About Us

Our Family History

The S.DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home opened its doors for business in March of 1998. Named for the Sole Proprietor, Licensed Funeral Director and Registered Embalmer, Susan DiPardo. Susan obtained an Associate in Science specializing in Mortuary Science and Funeral Direction from the New England Institute located at Mount Ida College in Newton, Massachusetts and is licensed in the State of Rhode Island.

Susan is also a Registered Nurse and obtained an Associates Degree in Nursing from the Community College of Rhode Island in 1991. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Landmark Medical Center for several years. She also holds a License in Hairdressing and Cosmetology.

Susan was married to the late James P. DiPardo, a successful Funeral Director and registered embalmer in the city of Woonsocket.

Our family business began with James DiPardo helping serve the Woonsocket community and surrounding areas back in the late 1960s. As the business grew, so did the DiPardo family, Susan married James and had four children: Christopher J., Stephen M., Angela L., and Kenneth J.

James worked on Harris Avenue until 1993 where he joined another funeral home. During this time Susan DiPardo went to school and served an apprenticeship. James continued to serve the community until his death at 45 on May 25th, 1995.

It was at this point his wife, Susan, decided to carry on the service herself and continue the home in her name. She is joined by her sons, Christopher and Kenneth, maintaining the family history and care that has always been associated with James P. DiPardo.

Susan's son, Christopher, joined the family business full time in October of 2015. After attending high school and a year of Community College. he decided to enlist in the Air Force where he worked in Communications/Special Operations for 8 years of Active Duty Service. Upon moving back to RI he attended the University of Rhode Island and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences. After a year off of schooling he then went on to Mount Ida College to follow in the footsteps of his parents, James and Susan, to get his Mortuary Science degree.
