André Cote Sr. Obituary

Woonsocket - André R. Cote Sr., 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2024, with family by his side. He was the husband of the late Lucienne L. (Sylvestre) Cote. 

Born in Morristown, VT., he was one of 7 children to the late Alcide and Clarisse (Couture) Cote. André worked as a Machinist for Foxboro Company for 27 years prior to retiring. He then worked as a courier for Woonsocket Housing Authority from 2003-2014. 

A United States Air Force Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict.

Andre was a lifetime member of the AMVETS Post 7. In 2019, he was selected to join Honor Flight Xray, along with several other veterans, to tour the Washington DC Veterans’ Monuments. He was a 4th degree Knight, Knights of Columbus St. Augustine Church, Millville MA chapter and a lifetime member. He was an acolyte in the Catholic Church for many years as a boy and in his later years as an adult, along with being a eucharistic minister. Andre loved crocheting as a hobby. It helped to keep his arthritic hands moving. He crocheted and delivered blankets for newborns at a variety of hospitals in the area along with making thousands of hats for Servicemen. He was also an avid train lover and had an extensive HO scale collection. 

He is survived by his three children, André Cote Jr. and his wife Mary of FL, Annette Weagle and her husband Steven of Oxford, MA, and Christopher Cote and his wife Brenda of Escondido, CA. Eight Grandchildren: Derek, Holly Ann, Kyle, Austin and Rowan. Reannan, Alissandra and Maddison. One sister, Yvette Martin of RI and many nieces and nephews. 

He was also grandfather to the late Logan Cote. Brother to the late Armand Cote, Joseph Aubert Cote, Lorette Wright, Rita Gavlik, and Phillip Cote.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 10 AM in St. Charles Church N. Main St. Woonsocket RI 02895. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation is from 9-10AM at church prior to the service. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Jean the Baptiste Cemetery Bellingham MA along with his deceased wife Lucienne.  In Lieu of flowers, donations to Rhode Island American Cancer Society https://www.cancer.org/about-us/local/rhode-island.html in his memory would be appreciated.
