Angelo Montecalvo Obituary

Woonsocket- Angelo Montecalvo, 96 of Getchell Avenue, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 11, 2021 surrounded by his loving wife and son.  He was the devoted husband of Erminia (Cambio) Montecalvo.  They were married for more than 59 years.

Angelo, a son of the late Costanzo and Celestina (Russo) Montecalvo lived his entire life in Woonsocket.  A member of the Greatest Generation, he proudly served in the United States Army.  He was stationed in the Philippines as a medic during World War II and would quietly reflect on his time serving his country. He retired from the City of Woonsocket after 30 years.

Angelo loved being outdoors and tending to his manicured yard.  He enjoyed the holidays and especially decorating the house for Christmas with a beautiful display of lights.  Cars would often slow down in front of the house to enjoy his display.  He also cherished time with family and friends.

Angelo was a man of faith.  He was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony’s Church in Woonsocket.  He was also a proud member of the former First Ward Italian American Citizens Club that was founded by his father and friends.

Besides his wife, he leaves one son, Mark Angelo Montecalvo. He is also survived by his brother Antonio Montecalvo of Scituate and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is the brother of the late Saverio Montecalvo and Michelina Montecalvo Rao.
