Arlene Plouffe Obituary

In Loving Memory of Arlene Mary Plouffe Devoted Daughter, Cherished Sister, Beloved Friend.

Arlene Mary Plouffe, of North Smithfield, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the age of 72 in the Holiday Retirement Home.
Born and raised in Rhode Island, the daughter of the late Adolphe and Rita (Bouchard) Plouffe. She worked as a nanny and as a cost accountant prior to retirement.

Arlene touched many lives with her creativity, warmth, and love for family and friends. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures playing “nickel nickel”, building gingerbread house villages with Kelley, and evening movie marathons drawn from her incredible collection of classic films. Blue Hawaii was her favorite; Elvis’s charm never grew old in her home.

Arlene was also a gifted crafter. She created delicate tatting along the edges of white handkerchiefs. Autumn meant stuffed pumpkins, a delicious tradition passed down from her mother. Summers often meant escapes to Maine with her partner Ed, where they fished, boated, and danced the jitterbug under open skies, moments that beautifully illustrated her joy for life. A special place in her heart was reserved for Cynthia, who always brought thoughtful gifts, and her dear friends Carol and John, whose friendship she deeply treasured. Above all, Arlene devoted herself to caring for her mother, a role she embraced with unconditional love and grace.

She is survived by her two brothers, Donald Plouffe and his wife Sue and their children Eric and Jessica; and great-nephew Hunter, and Richard Plouffe and wife Denise and their daughters Jill and Kirsten; great-nephews Owen and Braedyn; and great-niece Kapri. And one sister Paulette and her son Al and great-niece, Kyleigh.

The family will honor Arlene’s memory privately. No public service is planned, but your stories, photos, and fond memories are treasured and welcome. Please feel free to add them to the digital tribute wall for the family. The S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill Rd, Woonsocket, RI 02895 is overseeing the arrangements.
