Cumberland —- Arthos “Art” A. Canestrari 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 13, 2022 in Hope Health in Providence. He was the husband of the late Sylvia (Pucciarelli) Canestrari.
Born in Woonsocket son of the late Gino and Eva (Andreani) Canestrari.
Dr. Canestrari worked as a Dentist for many years in Woonsocket and was loved by all.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam Era as a Captain working in dentistry. He was a member of the Italian Workingmen’s Club and the Kiwanis Club.
Art was family orientated and always kept in touch with family in Italy. He enjoyed playing golf, painting, reading, playing the piano, accordion, wood carving, bowling, bocce, and scientific research.
He attended Providence College where he completed his Premed Degree and Tufts Dental School where he obtained his PHD and DMD.
He is survived by his three children Angela DiNunzio and her husband James of Rhode Island, Valerie Mara and her husband Robert of Connecticut and Gregory Canestrari and his wife Theresa of England. One sister Jean Hamel of New York and three grandchildren, Ashley, Elliott, Trinity.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday March 24, 2022 at 10 AM in St. Anthony’s Church Greene St. Woonsocket, RI. Burial will be in Precious Blood Cemetery Rathbun St. Woonsocket, RI 02895. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. The S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket, RI 02895 is in charge of the arrangements.
