Cheryl A. Downs

Woonsocket - Cheryl A. Downs, 60, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at home with her family by her side. She was the former wife of Charles Cassidy of Plainville, MA. 

Born in Norwood, MA., she was the daughter of Carole (Irving) Porazzo of Norwood, MA., and the late Robert Downs. 

Cheryl enjoyed reading, going for walks, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Cheryl was a stay at home mom for many years raising her three girls. She loved to spend her time baking, doing arts and crafts with them, watching them play softball, and teaching them all about country music. Cheryl was a fan of Toby Keith, becoming a member of the fan club and making it to many concerts and meet and greets. 

She is survived by her three children, Heather Januario and her husband Anthony of Texas, Jennifer Highfield and her husband Shayne of Florida, and Samantha Cassidy and her husband Daniel Pond of Norton, MA. Her siblings, James Downs and his wife Ana of New Hampshire, Tracy Christo and her husband Greg of North Andover, MA, Sam Porazzo of Norwood, MA., and Melissa Porazzo of North Carolina. Seven grandchildren, JJ, Logan, Owen, Waylon, Leilani, Cassidy, and Callie.
Niece Michaela Downs who she was grateful to share a close bond with and took great joy in watching her grow from the moment of her birth. She cherished her relationship with all her nieces and nephews, Ben Sophia, Tyler, and Brooklyn, who all loved her and brought joy to her life.
