Woonsocket — Christy Talabac, 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 in the Hope Hospice & Palliative Care in Providence with his family by his side. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Nolet) Talabac of Woonsocket.
Born in Woonsocket, son of the late Vanghel and Louise (Bici) Talabac.
Christy worked as an Insurance Salesman for Met Life for 17 years and for Market Basket until retiring.
He was a United States Army Veteran.
Mr. Talabac enjoyed spending time with his family and watching the Red Sox and the Patriots. He coached Little League baseball when his children were young and enjoyed watching them and his grandchildren play baseball. He was a very personable and outgoing individual.
Besides his wife Elizabeth he is survived by his three children, Christopher Talabac of Woonsocket, Kevin Talabac and his wife Jeanne of Cranston, and Melissa Zapata and her husband Jason of Woonsocket. Four grandchildren, Kyle, Sydney, Matthew, and Tyler. And his two nephews, Theodore and Nicholas.
He was also the brother of the late Catherine Giambazi and Jenny Gray.
His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024 at 10 AM from the S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket, RI 02895 with a Mass at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Romanian Orthodox Church 501 East School St. Woonsocket, RI 02895. Burial with Military Honors will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited; calling hours are on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024 from 5-7 PM.
