Constance "Connie" (Abbott) Marcil Obituary

Constance A. “Connie” Marcil, 77, of Woonsocket, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 9, 1948, in Providence, RI, Connie was the heart and soul of her family—known for her compassion and nurturing spirit. She was the beloved wife of John “Tommy” Marcil Sr. and the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Marion (McLaughlin) Abbott.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Connie’s greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren—teaching them arts and crafts, baking, and how to find joy in life’s simple moments. She loved playing the piano, gardening, working on jigsaw puzzles, watching Judge Judy, crocheting (Christmas stockings were her specialty!) and cooking. If there was a family gathering, rest assured, Connie would be bringing everyone’s favorite, macaroni and potato salad. Her lasagna was another beloved special event dish!

Beyond her most important role as a mother, Connie worked as a machine operator at Fandetti Fusion before retiring.

In addition to her husband Tommy, of 55 years, she is survived by her son, Jeffrey Marcil, and his wife Lindsay of Norfolk, MA; her sisters, Lucille Benoit of California and Janie Abbott of Virginia; and her brother, Donald (Doris) Abbott of Minnesota. She leaves three grandchildren—Abigail (Ryan) Larson, Piper and Alexandra Marcil, and four great-grandchildren—Annabelle, Ella, Sophie and Jolie Larson. In addition, she leaves many cousins, nieces, nephews, and her best friend of sixty years, Gail (Tancrell) Taddeo.

She was predeceased by her son, John T. Marcil Jr.; her sisters, Marion Edwards and Dorothy O’Brien; and her brother, Joe Pete Abbott.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, October 17, at 9:00 AM from the S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1583 Diamond Hill Road, Woonsocket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Holy Trinity Church, 1409 Park Avenue, Woonsocket. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be Thursday, October 16, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
