Woonsocket - Dora E. (Byrd) Wilson, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 in the Oakland Grove Heath Center. She was the wife of the late Columbus Wilson.
Born in Silverstreet, South Carolina., daughter of the late Will and Lillie (Conner) Byrd.
Dora worked as a Certified Nurses Aide at Zambarano Hospital. She attended the Arthur Angelo School of Hair Design graduating in 1972.
She was a very active member of St. James Baptist Church and in her community. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially babies and children, and traveling.
She is survived by her four children, Delilah Coakley of GA, Ricky Wilson of Woonsocket, Michael Wilson of Woonsocket, and Joyce Jones and her husband Roderick of GA. One brother, Freddie Byrd and his wife Doris of Norristown, PA. Sister in law, Josephine Byrd of Woonsocket. Eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. And many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM in St. James Baptist Church 340 S. Main St. Woonsocket, RI 02895 on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Burial to follow will be in Union Cemetery Smithfield Rd., N. Smithfield, RI 02896. Calling hours will be on Monday, June 9th from 4-7PM at the church. The S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket, RI 02895 is in charge of the arrangements.
