Dwede Jones
Woonsocket - Dwede Jones was born in Monrovia Liberia on February 21, 1955. She visited the US on several occasions before settling in the New York New Jersey area in search of a better life for her family. She became a US citizen in 2006 and worked in different lines of work including housework in New Jersey, and as a cashier at Madison Square Garden in New York. It was during a visit to a friend in RI, that Dwede suffered a stroke and was supported by the Rhode Island medical system. She was eventually placed in housing in Woonsocket that met her needs.
Dwede’s father was the late Moses Wah Bedelle who worked for Firestone in Pleebo Liberia. Her mother was the late Wahda Bedelle who was a native woman of Liberia and wore beautiful Lappa dresses. Sister Jones was introduced to Christ at an early age as her family was methodist. After moving to Woonsocket RI, she joined the St. James Baptist Church, when the late Rev Dr. Sammy C Vaughan was pastor, where she was baptized. With help and support from church members, she was able to attend services on Sundays which she thoroughly enjoyed. In June of 2021 she was transferred to the Friendly Nursing Home in Woonsocket RI when safety concerns for her independent living were presented. Dee was a very friendly woman who liked to listen to music, enjoyed shopping and window shopping and watching sports, particularly football and basketball over the years. Most recently she became a consistent viewer of educational TV stations and found interest in almost everything.
After a brief illness, Sister Jones went home to be with the Lord on August 14, 2024 who she loved, trusted and thanked every day for all He had brought her through. She leaves to mourn, her daughter Gladys Jarrett of Switzerland, her sons Cyrius Kla Scott and George Youh Neal of Liberia,West Africa , grand children Monica Barzon of Switzerland, Fanto Foday of Kenya, Kelven Bedell, Esther Bedell, King Bedell and Adeline Hawa Neal of Liberia, a sister Helena Bedell of Minnesota, a host of other relatives and a close longtime friend Mr. Edward Greenfield of New Jersey.
