Edna L. Thompson

Woonsocket — Edna L. (Vance) Thompson, 70 passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 6, 2021 in Landmark Medical Center. She was the former wife of John Thompson Jr. of Boston, MA.

Edna was born to the late superintendent John C. Vance and the late Mother Elizabeth (Hale) Vance of West Memphis Arkansas. 

Edna was a member of All Nations Church of God in Christ where she held several positions. Her first love was always God and family. 

Edna worked as a CNA for New England Deaconess Hospital and Alternative Care in Boston, Massachusetts.  Edna later moved her family back to Woonsocket, RI where she worked at the Corporate office of CVS Corp for eight years as a Seasonal Billing Clerk until she became disabled. 

Edna was the sister of the late Earline Spearman, Earnestine Vance, John C. Vance Jr. Bessie May Vance, Willis H. Vance, Ethel Lee Vance, and Shirley Rose Vance. 

Edna leaves to mourn her two daughter's,  Bernadette Touray of Woonsocket & Elizabeth Ann Thompson of Columbus, Ohio and her son John Thompson III of Providence,  RI.  She leaves ten grandchildren; Deszmond, Keemari, Khadijah, Dekhi, Mamediarra, Breon,  Fatima, Jamilla, Mahammadu, and Sophia.

A Funeral Home Service will be held on Thursday,  January 14, 2021 at 11 AM in the S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home  1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket, RI 02895. Burial will be in Union Cemetery North Smithfield, RI. Relatives and friends are invited; calling hours are on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 5-7 PM.
