Edward E. Bassett Sr.

Mendon, MA - Edward E. Bassett Sr., 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2026 in UMASS Medical with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Suzanne (Lemay) Bassett.

Born in Clinton, MA., son of the late Richard and Eleanor (Vandersluis) Bassett.

Ed was a United States Marine Corps Veteran.

He was a Developmental Service worker for the Wrentahm State School for 38 years on the 11PM-7Am shift prior to retiring.

Ed enjoyed playing pool, cards, and relaxing outside.

He is survived by his three sons, Edward E. Bassett Jr. and his wife Heidi of Bellingham, MA., Jason Bassett and his wife Jennifer of Alfred, ME., and Nathan Bassett of TN. Five grandchildren, Jacob Edward Bassett, Hailey Rose Bassett, Lainey Abigale Bassett, Johnathan Edward Bassett, and Jordan Elizabeth Bassett.

He also leaves behind his caretaker and dear friend, Jamie Cobb of Attleboro, MA and his cousin Christina Melpignano of Mendon.

He was also the brother of the late Earl Bassett.

His funeral services are private. The S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket, RI 02895 is in charge of the arrangements.
