On March 6, 2022, Gary W. Roscoe passed away at his home in Woonsocket, RI. From diagnosis of cancer to his final day was only a matter of weeks. He was 73. Gary was predeceased by his father William Roscoe, his mother Virginia Roscoe and his wife of over 30 years, Anna Roscoe. Gary and Anna did not have children but they loved their pets including Cooper, the family cat. Gary's partner Mary and Cooper stayed by his side to the end.
Gary grew up in Blackstone, MA. As a young man he joined the United States Air Force and spent much of his service on the Johnston Atoll in the Pacific. Upon ending his service, he returned home to attend Roger Williams University, where he received his Civil Engineering Degree. Gary soon joined the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection as an Air Pollution Control Engineer. He was well respected and made numerous friends along the way. Gary mentored others in the office which is part of his legacy. He retired after a 35 year career with DEP.
Nearing retirement Gary discovered acting. He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild with 32 movies and TV shows to his credit including "Ghostbusters", "The Ghost of Girlfriends Past", and most recently "Don't Look Up". Gary was a natural for the movies. Be it a juror, news room editor, zombie, or father of the bride, he loved it all.
Gary was a unique and fun person. He liked spending time at his home in Florida, bike rides with friends, kayaking, the gym and taking friends to his favorite local spots. His stories were always entertaining, leaving you with a smile.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Saint Joseph's Church - 1200 Mendon Road, Woonsocket, RI 02895. Burial will be private.
The S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill Rd Woonsocket, RI 02895 is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the ASPCA, Hope Hospice (Providence, RI), Boston Food Bank or Salvation Army.
