Woonsocket — George A. Roy 83 ,passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 17, 2022 in the Friendly Home with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Claire (Fournier) Roy.
Born in Woonsocket, son of the late George N. and Emma (Raymond) Roy.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Roy worked as a toolmaker for P&C Turn Components for several years. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, carpentry, and playing cards with his brother-in-law, Gino Orazi. George also loved to spend time with family and friends especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an active golfer at Melody Hills and an avid bowler at Walnut Hill Bowl for several years.
He is survived by his two daughters, Paula J. Degnan and her husband Paul of Burrillville, and Sandra Barrette and her husband Paul of Greenville, RI. His son-in-law Jeffrey Labrie of Woonsocket. Six grandchildren, Kayla, Justin, Thomas, Jayna, Emma, and Olivia. And two great-grandchildren, Aria and Jameson. He also leaves his companion Janet Goodrich of North Smithfield.
He was also the father of the late Lisa A. Labrie and brother to the late Pauline Latendre.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 23 at 10AM from the S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket, RI with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63r Church St. Slaterville, RI. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends are invite; calling hours are on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 from 5-7 PM.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston in his memory would be appreciated.
