Woonsocket - On Friday, April 28th, Gertrude (Gamache) Suffoletto, 99, gently passed away in her Woonsocket home.
Gertrude was a devout and active member at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church where, in addition to teaching Religion classes and running the Food Pantry, she was president of various groups including the Ladies’ Guild and Seniors Group. The former of which was the venue for their popular variety shows, which she facilitated. Remarkably, she was also the first woman president of Lodge No. 9 Auxiliary Fraternal Order of Police.
The daughter of Harry and Anna Gamache and sibling to Clair, Jean, Normand, and Roland. Gertrude married Henry Suffoletto in 1944. They were married for 40 years until his passing in 1984. Together, they raised four children - Hank Suffoletto, Gabrielle Dunne, Ann Morin, and Carl Suffoletto.
She was a most beloved Mémère to seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A woman of many stories, she loved to have her friends and family close and her door was open to all. She was a voracious reader and faithful fan of the Patriots and Red Sox.
