Bellingham — Gloria M. (Rawlinson) Jenckes, 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 24, 2022, at home with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of Arthur G. Jenckes of Bellingham, to whom she was married for nearly 60 years.
Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island on July 5, 1935, to the late James and Antoinette (Trudeau) Rawlinson, she was the oldest of their 12 children.
She worked as a Manager of the Print Shop for the International Society of Fire Service Instructors in Ashland, MA for many years before retiring.
Gloria was proud of being a lifetime member of the Local AMVETS Post 7 and was former President of the Auxiliary. She also was a former member of the AMVETS State Department and volunteered at the VA Hospital in Rhode Island.
She found great pleasure spending time with her immediate and extended family. She enjoyed cooking, baking and feeding her loved ones, including all the creatures in her backyard. She could often be found exploring her many cookbooks for new recipes. She relished time in the mountains of Maine and New Hampshire and spent many earlier years camping and exploring with her family.
Besides her loving husband Arthur, she leaves her four devoted children; Linda Healy and her husband Michael of Bellingham, MA, Thomas J. Hamelin of Bellingham, MA, Timothy J. Hamelin and his partner Cindy Richardson of Uxbridge, MA, and Marlene M. Lavallee of Bellingham, MA; and daughters-in-law Doreen Brown Hamelin of Bellingham, MA, and Lisa Letts of East Wareham, MA. She also leaves her siblings, Arlene Gagnon of Blackstone, MA, Patricia Rochefort of Woonsocket, RI, Gail Michaud of Maine, Russell Rawlinson and his wife Simone of Millville, MA, Dennis Rawlinson of Woonsocket, RI, and brother-in-law, Kenneth Jenckes and his wife Michelle James, of California. In addition, she leaves her cherished eighteen (19) grandchildren and eleven (14) great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Her family will remember her most for her beautiful smile, positive energy, her generosity and kindness, and ability to spread joy wherever she went.
She was also the mother to the late Raymond J. Hamelin her late step son, Jimmy Rais and sister to the late James “Sonny” Rawlinson, Ronald Rawlinson, and Raymond Rawlinson.
Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Gloria during calling hours on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 from 5-8PM and by attending a memorial service (at the funeral home) on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 11AM in the S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill Rd Woonsocket, RI 02895. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery Farm St. Blackstone, MA.
