Woonsocket - Gloria Jean Roy, 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2024 in the Friendly Home with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of Normand Lafond of GA and the wife of the late Gerald A Roy.
Born in Acushnet, MA., daughter of the late Leonard and Winifred (Shepard) Roy.
Gloria worked in Sales for WWON and WNRI radio in Woonsocket for several years. She was Owner/Operator of Chante Balloons. She was also a writer publishing a book of poetry in 1993, A Scent of Flowers. She enjoyed quilting, dancing, singing, traveling, reading, and writing her poetry. Gloria was a people person and loved meeting and talking to anyone.
She is survived by her six children, David G. Roy and his wife Allison of Woonsocket, Jeffrey Roy and his wife Karen of West Warwick, Matthew Roy and his wife Stephanie of Woonsocket, Joseph Roy and his wife Meagan of Millville, MA., Marie Roy of Cumberland, and Thomas Roy of TX. Two sisters, Patricia Laderia and her husband Richard of MA and Diane Smith of CA. Eleven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was also the sister of the late Susan Roy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM in Divine Mercy Church St. Paul St. Blackstone, MA., on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 9AM from the S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket, RI 02895. Burial to follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Rathbun St. Woonsocket. Relatives and friends are invited; calling hours will be on Monday, October 28, 2024 from 4-7PM.
