Jennifer Terry

Providence — Jennifer (Scurry) Terry Sr., 62, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024 in Rhode Island Hospital after a brief illness. She was the loving wife of Tony L. Terry of Providence.

Born in Woonsocket daughter of the late ML and Susan (Harmon) Scurry.

She was a graduate of Woonsocket High School and Arthur Angelo’s School of Cosmetology.

Jennifer worked as a Claims Adjuster for Blue Cross Blue Shield and also as a Hairdresser for the former Extensions Hair Salon and as a meat cutter for Stop & Shop.

She was a member of St. James Baptist Church and sang in the Choir and played for the Tyra Club Phillies women softball team.

Jennifer loved to spend time with family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. She loved to cook, go shopping, especially at the store, New York Co. She also enjoyed candy apples, music, watching her soap opera’s, and she was an avid Patriot’s fan. Jennifer was a Very Special Diva.

Besides her husband Tony she is survived by her two children, Tony Terry Jr. and his wife Itisha of Providence and Jalesia Terry of Providence.

Her siblings, Evelyn Terry and her husband Robert of Woonsocket, Dalares Scurry of Woonsocket, Carol Garette of Woonsocket, James Scurry and his wife Tanya, of MA. Rose Clark and her husband Tony of Woonsocket, Susan DeBoise of Cumberland, and Jeffrey Scurry and his wife Paula of Burrillville. Three grandchildren, Tonnisha, Tanaiyha, and Toni. And a host of uncles, aunts, nieces nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Tommie and Melvin and her sisters Cornelia and Ruby.   

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 12PM in the St. James Baptist Church 340 S. Main St. Woonsocket, RI 02895. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held in the church from 10AM-12PM prior to the service. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. The S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill Road Woonsocket, RI 02895 is in charge of the arrangements.
