Joan Ann Alexander

Foxboro, MA — Joan Ann (Orlando) Alexander, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 in the Friendly Home. 

Born in Woonsocket, daughter of the late Peter J. and Margaret (Diomedes) Orlando.

Joan was a Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA) for most of her adult working life. She loved taking care of people, putting smiles on their faces, and helping wherever she could. She was a hard worker and incredibly strong-willed, always giving her best to those in her care.

She was deeply religious, loved studying the Bible, attending prayer groups, and was an active member of Harvest Community Church.The congregation and Pastors at Harvest Community Church meant so very much to her.

Joan enjoyed cooking, especially for others, she found more joy in feeding those around her than cooking for herself. She had a passion for shopping and found delight in discovering hidden treasures and loved to score a bargain.

If you knew Joan, you knew her as a friend to everyone. She had an incredible way of connecting with people, striking up conversations, and leaving a lasting impression.

She is survived by her children, Tina Phillips of North Smithfield and Peter Doyle and his wife Crissy of Arkansas. One brother, Samuel Orlando and his wife Jeannine of Woonsocket. Three grandchildren, April, Emma, and Caleb. And one great grandson, Caden.

She was also the sister of the late Peter “Sonny” Orlando.

A Funeral Home Service will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at 3:30 PM in the S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket, RI 02895. Visitation from 2-3:30 PM prior to the Service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
