Pascoag —- Joseph F. Notarangelo 93, formerly of Cranston St. Woonsocket, RI., passed away peacefully, Saturday, August 14, 2021 in the Overlook Nursing Home with his family by his side. He was the husband of the late Virginia (Proietti) Notarangelo.
Born in Taylor, PA, son of the late Matteo and Filomena (Barbaria) Notarangelo.
He was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean War obtaining a Bronze Service Star. He was a graduate of WHS Class of 1947 and obtained his Bachelor Degree in Criminal Law from San Francisco University.
Mr. Notarangelo was a Lieutenant for the Woonsocket Fire Department Station 1 until retiring in 1992. He received an award from the Woonsocket Fire Department for his valor while fighting the fire at 586 North Main St. Woonsocket, RI. He was a member of Local 732.
He enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, music, crossword puzzles, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his son Joseph F. Notarangelo Jr. and his wife Donna of FL. One daughter, Nancy Maney and her husband Kevin of Narraganset. Five grandchildren, Christina Rondeau, Melissa Rondeau, Marc Rondeau, and Eric and Brent Notarangelo. Four great grandchildren, Kia, Cotey, Nina, and Tanzi Rondeau. One brother, Michael Notarangelo of Woonsocket. Several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Nicholas Notarangelo, Catherine Suffoletto, Viola Plouffe, Matteo Notarangelo, John Notarangelo, and Clara Bourdeau.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at 9 AM from the S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket RI 02895 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Anthony’s Church 128 Greene St. Woonsocket, RI. 02895. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone, MA. Relatives and friends are invited; calling hours are on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 5-7 PM.
