Woonsocket — LuChania S. Abney, 42, passed on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at home with her loving family by her side.
Born in Woonsocket, daughter of Michael Burke Sr. of Woonsocket and Maxseania Abney of Woonsocket.
LuChania worked as a cashier for Harbor Freight and also as bus driver for Mark’s Transportation.
She was a 2000 graduate of Woonsocket High School.
She loved her church and was very strong in her faith. LuChania enjoyed spending time with her sisters, attending family gatherings, and loved music. She loved children and enjoyed watching them play football.
She is survived by her two children, Anfernee Abney and Carlenia Abney both of Woonsocket. Three sisters, Shandel Abney, Shameka Burke, and Kimberly Green all of Woonsocket. Seven brothers, Kenya Abney and his wife Angela of Woonsocket, Christopher Green, Michael Burke Jr., all of Woonsocket, Craig Robinson of Pawtucket, James Burke of NH, Elijah Burke of Woonsocket and Dwayne Abney of Providence. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and godchildren. She also leaves her companion of 20 years, David Carpenter of Providence and her best friend, Justi Armstrong of Woonsocket.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Charles and Minnie Abney and George Burke and Georgia Boykin.
Her Funeral will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 10 AM in St. James Baptist Church 340 South Main St. Woonsocket, RI. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery No. Smithfield. Relatives and friends are invited; calling hours are from 5-7 PM on Thursday, November 30, 2023 in St. James Baptist Church.
