Margaret Keach Obituary

Woonsocket — Margaret (Gibson) Keach 60, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, daughter of the late William Gibson and Margaret (Taylor) Ward. She was predeceased by her stepfather James Ward.

She was also known by her family and friends as Princess, Peg, Peggy, & Maggie. 

Before Margaret started a family she worked for the New York State Migrant Program and Cornell University. Margaret then dedicated her time to raising her three children, loved to babysit for neighbors, and volunteered for the church. Margaret also worked as a CNA for the Woonsocket Health & Rehabilitation Center for a few years.

Margaret was known for her collection of Saints & Angels memorabilia. She appreciated small things in life and was quick to remind others of the importance of being grateful. Margaret had strong appreciation for Art, Dance, Music, English, and History. She was a free spirited woman with a contagious laugh that could fill a room. She loved to spend time with her family, a good cup of coffee & conversation, and decorating her home for every holiday.  She received her education from Mt. Markham school district in West Winfield, NY, Nazareth College Rochester, NY and Albany SUNY. She was apart of 4H club, honor societies, the marching band, & church choir. Margaret never forgot a birthday and treasured the accomplishments of her loved ones. Margaret was a very giving person who was always ready to lend a helping hand to a neighbor & humbly gave donations to the organizations to support Veterans.

She is survived by her three children, Kristen Boshers and her husband Brandon of TN., Margaret Valton and her husband Timothy R. Valton II of Bristol, RI, and Richard Lionel James Keach of Boston, MA. Seven siblings William Gibson and his wife Donna of New York, Debra Virkler of NY, John Gibson and his wife & Margaret’s Best Friend, Sue of NY, James Gibson and his significant other Roberta of NY, Joseph Gibson and his wife Brooke of OH, Theresa “Za” Sortino of NY, & Jeanne-Marie Case of NY and her husband Neil. One grandson Riley Valton of Bristol, RI. Many nieces and nephews, whom she adored. Her aunt Pat Ward of NY, her sisterly cousin Kim Chapman-Mesko of NY, and honorary brother Dan Allen of VA. She was predeceased by her life partner of 15 years, Leo Champagne and her brother in laws, Turk Virkler & Fino Sortino.

Her Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 10 AM  in St. Joseph Church 1200 Mendon Rd. Woonsocket, RI 02895. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private. The S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill RD. Woonsocket, RI 02895 is in charge of the arrangements.
