Maxseania Abney Obituary

Woonsocket - Maxseania Abney, 64, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2026 in Hope Health & Hospice with her family by her side. 

Born in Washington, DC, daughter of the late Charles and Minnie (McCorkle) Abney.

Maxseania worked for Lincoln Greyhound Park in in the Maintenance Department and also as a Bus Monitor for Ryder Transportation for several years. 

She was a member of St. James Baptist Church, in her younger days played basketball in High School, enjoyed cooking, fishing, and most of all spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her three children, Kenya Abney and his wife Angela of Woonsocket, Shandel Abney of Woonsocket, and Dwayne Abney of Providence. Her siblings, Carseania Tribble and her husband Michael of North Carolina, Tonya Abney of Woonsocket, Lawanda Monteiro and husband Deon of Providence, Syreeta Abney of Woonsocket, and Richard Ethier of North Carolina. 16 Grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, 7 stepchildren and 2 Goddaughters and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her companion of 26 years, Michael Burke of Woonsocket.

She was predeceased by her daughter LuChania Abney and her brother Charles Brown. 

Her Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 27, 2026 in St. James Baptist Church, 340 South Main St. Woonsocket, RI 02895. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited; visitation is on Thursday, February 26th from 5-7 PM in the Church. The S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket, RI 02895 is in charge of the arrangements.
