Woonsocket, Rhode Island — Montell Henley, 31, was called to his next journey on Monday, June 15, 2026, at his home. Born in Providence, Montell was the beloved son of Michael Henley of Providence and the late Angiler (Farrow) Henley.
Montell worked for several years as a manager at Subway in Blackstone and as a sales representative for Verizon. He will be remembered most for his radiant spirit. We all love his infectious laugh, warm smile, and the way he made everyone around him feel seen and uplifted. Montell lived boldly and authentically, embracing self-expression through his style, his music, and his vibrant personality.
He had a deep love for dance and music, often finding joy in the rhythms of his favorite artists like Nicki Minaj. Whether he was meditating in the sun, taking long walks to soak in the beauty of the world, or immersing himself in a video game he was determined to master, Montell found happiness in life’s simple and meaningful moments. Though sports were never his passion, his competitive spirit shone through in every game he played. He was imaginative and creative, often writing songs and dreaming up new worlds, and he had a special tenderness for animals—especially his cherished feline companion, Penelope.
Montell was a proud graduate of Woonsocket High School, Class of 2013, where he was an active member of the dance team and participated in theatre. He was also a devoted member of St. James Baptist Church, where he sang in the youth choir and took part in youth activities, sharing his voice and spirit with his community.
In addition to his father, Michael Henley, Montell leaves behind his loving sister, Marissa D.L Henley of Ohio; his brothers, Richard Mollock of Georgia and Michael William of Providence; his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Henley of Warwick; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
He was the maternal grandson of the late M.C. and Minnie Farrow.
