Cumberland- Richard N. “Pepere Rick” Croteau, 69, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 4, 2025 in Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Pauline M. (Raymond) Croteau of Cumberland.
Born in Woonsocket, son of the late Normand and Gisele (Rainville) Croteau.
Richard worked hard as the Yard Manager for BJ’s Wholesale for several years prior to retiring. He also tended bar for years and was a highly engaged member of the Cercle Laurier, the IWC, the Elks, and Club Par X. He enjoyed spending time with his family and participating in activities including fishing, bowling and golfing. You could find Richard spending mornings on the softball field with one of his best buddies, Francis “Dan” Hurst of Woonsocket, where they won several championships in the “Field of Dreams” League. He also cherished most days spending quality time and building puzzles with his wife. He will be remembered for his enthusiasm behind home plate at softball games but will forever have the best seat in the stands.
Besides his wife Pauline, he is survived by three daughters, Christine McGrath, Nicole Croteau, and Justina Mailly. One son, John Raymond and his wife Dawn of Woonsocket. His loving grandchildren, Miguel, Xena, Hevyn, Julia, Olivia and Kyla.
He was also grandfather to the late Mariah and Brianna.
His services are private. The S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill Rd, Woonsocket, RI 02895 is in charge of the arrangements.
