Coventry - Rita D. (Plante) Harris, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 15, 2023 in Kent County Hospital with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late William Harris.
Born in Woonsocket, daughter of the late Omer and Rena (Frappier) Plante.
Rita was a Homemaker but also worked in several textile mills in the area to include the French Worsted. She was a Deaconess at St. James Baptist Church and also belonged to the Women’s Auxillary. She enjoyed reading, doing word searches, watching surfers at the beach, and having her favorite meal, Lobster. She was an avid Patriots fan and her favorite player was Rob Gronkowski.
She leaves behind her two children, Susan Harris and her partner Gail Rogers of Coventry and Richard Harris and his wife Jennifer of Woonsocket. Six grandchildren, Danelle, Vanessa, Rita, Liana Fiorillo, Shaina Rodriguez, and Michael Rodriguez. And seven great grandchildren, Tsuki, Rosemary, Sydney, Chays, Soren, and Beau Fiorillo & Breanna Fiorillo.
She was predeceased by her two sons, Jeffrey Harris and Kenneth W. Harris. And her great granddaughter, Schye. And her siblings, Omer, Bill, and Beatrice.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 11AM in St. James Baptist Church 340 South Main St. Woonsocket, RI. Visitation is one hour prior to the service from 10-11AM at the church. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. The S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill Rd, Woonsocket, RI is in charge of the arrangements.
