Robert E. Fernandes Sr.

Woonsocket - Robert E. Fernandes Sr.  Bob passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026 at the age of 92. He was the husband of Marie (Doura) Fernandes of Woonsocket and the late Constance (Turcotte) Fernandes. 

Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Ernest and Anna “Archangel” (Barbosa) Fernandes.

He was in concrete construction for most of his life. Everywhere you looked in Woonsocket, there is a condo complex, a house, or a garage with a foundation built by Bob. 

He was very proud of his Portuguese heritage and made many trips to Portugal to visit family. He also made many stops all over the globe and enjoyed the beach no matter where he visited. 

Bob was always the sharpest dressed man and was often mistaken for Kenny Rogers. Many people knew him from seeing him sitting on his front porch on Park Avenue. He was like an ambassador for the city of Woonsocket.

In his his later life he enjoyed dining out with Marie. They made many friends wherever they went. Besides Marie his closest companions were his Egyptian cats, Jack and the late Leo.  

Bob was extremely proud of his children and their many accomplishments. 

Besides Marie, he is survived by his children, Gary Fernandes and Jean Colardo, Brian Fernandes and Edean, Marc Fernandes, and Scott Fernandes, His daughters-in-law, Kathleen Fernandes and Jennifer Fernandes. His siblings, Alice Fernandes, Alcina Forcier, Fatima Duquet, Roland Fernandes, Edward Fernandes, Julio Fernandes, and Albert Fernandes. 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. 

He was also the father of the late Alan, Bruce, Robert, and Diane and the brother of the late Virginia, Nelson, George, Joseph, Donald, Leo, and Ronald. 

Visitation will be on Sunday, July 12, 2026 from the 3-6 PM in the S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill Rd Woonsocket, RI 02895. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private.
