Woonsocket — Roger Rossato 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 7, 2024 in the Woonsocket Heath & Rehabilitation Centre with his family by his side. He was the husband of Annette “Ann” (Deslauriers) Rossato of Woonsocket. Roger and Ann were married for 64 years.
Born in Woonsocket son of the late Rinaldo and Angela (Maculan) Rossato.
Mr. Rossato served in the United States Army during peacetime serving in Germany.
He worked as a Machine Operator for Allied Container in Dedham for several years and as a Custodian for the Woonsocket School Department prior to retiring.
Roger was a member of the Italian Workingmen’s Club and Wallum Lake Rod and Gun Club.
He enjoyed spending time outdoors with a cigar, hunting, fishing, and summers at Hampton Beach with his dear friends Bob and Lou Lambert. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. Roger enjoyed being with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides his wife Ann, he is survived by his two children, Thomas Rossato and his wife Debra of Blackstone, MA and Angela Rondeau and her husband Michael of Woonsocket. Four grandchildren, Anthony Rossato and his wife Gabriella, Eric Rondeau and his significant other Chelsea Piechowski, Lauren Riess, and Danielle Rondeau and her fiancé Joshua Fiske. He is also survived by three great grandchildren, Gunner Rondeau, Charlotte and Julian Riess and Chelsea’s 3 children Ava, Aubrey and Aria who also affectionately referred to him as Peepa. Roger was also especially close to his cousin Michael Aiudi and his wife Janet who were more like another son and daughter than a cousin.
The family would also like to thank the staff at Landmark Medical Center and Woonsocket Health & Rehabilitation Centre for their professional caring and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request that a donation be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, St. Ann Arts & Cultural Center or the charity of your choice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM in St Joseph Church, 1200 Mendon Rd. Woonsocket, RI 02895. Burial will be at a later date. Relatives and friends are invited; Visitation is one hour prior to Mass from 9:00 -10:00 AM in the S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket, RI 02895.
