Blackstone - Wilfred Roger Bacon Sr., 85, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024 in the Stillwater Assisted Living And Skilled Nursing Community.
Born in Woonsocket, RI, Wilfred was the son of Leo Paul Bacon and Eva (Auclair) Bacon. He was the husband of the late Mae E. Goulet.
A hardworking man of diverse trades and a devoted father, Wilfred was a Head Custodian at the John F. Kennedy Elementary School in Blackstone until he retired. He spent over forty years in the foundry trades working for Rockwell International at their Draper Division in Hopedale, MA, as well as Neponset Brass in Dorchester, MA. He was also a United States Air Force Veteran, and former member of the 102nd Aircraft Control and Warning Association, the Air Force Sergeants Association, the Massachusetts Retired State, County, and Municipal Employee Association, and the RI National Guard Retirees Association. He belonged to the Naval Reserve and the Air Force Reserve Center in Denver, Colorado.
He is survived by his children, Julie Bacon and her partner Lisa of Iowa, Marc Bacon and his wife Debra of Cumberland, RI, Paul Bacon and his wife Nancy of Woonsocket, RI and Luke Bacon and his wife Alicia of Blackstone, MA. He is also survived by one brother, Leo Bacon of Cumberland, RI and one sister, Cecile Dion of Woonsocket, RI and four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Wilfred was the brother of the late Claire Camp and father of the late Wilfred R. “Willie” Bacon Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 9 AM in Divine Mercy Church St. Paul St. Blackstone, MA. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial to follow in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery Exeter, RI at 11AM. The S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home 1583 Diamond Hill Rd Woonsocket, RI 02895 is in charge of the arrangements.
